Pubblichiamo la presentazione dell’invito a contribuire al Colloquio Internazionale “Negri oltre Negri. Militant, intellectuel, interprète novateur de Marx et du marxisme, Antonio Negri a été l’ une des figures les plus influentes, mais aussi débattues et controversées, de la pensée critique contemporaine. Riche et transdisciplinaire, le parcours de Negri témoigne de l’ extraordinaire vitalité d’ une réflexion théorique et politique qui, durant plus de soixante ans, a été constamment animée par un but essentiel : « la reconstruction une force de classe qui, dès que possible, révolutionne ce monde insensé exploitation et d’injustice dans lequel nous vivons ».
Des enquêtes ouvrières menées pendant les années 1960 au sein des revues opéraïstes Quaderni Rossi et Classe Operaia à la quadrilogie inaugurée par Empire (2000), en passant par ses ouvrages consacrés au formalisme juridique, Hegel, Keynes, Descartes, Lénine, Marx, Spinoza et Foucault, jusqu’ aux développements les plus récents de sa théorie du « pouvoir constituant » et du « commun », Negri n’ a jamais séparé l’ exigence d’ une analyse matérialiste de la conjoncture historique de la passion révolutionnaire. L’héritage théorique et politique que nous lègue son œuvre évolue au fil du temps et est d’ une grande complexité à l’ image des métamorphoses des rapports exploitations et de domination qu’ il a tenté sans cesse de saisir pour les subvertir.
Ce colloque international se propose de dresser un premier bilan critique de l’œuvre de Negri, en se focalisant sur son analyse du capitalisme, des transformations du travail et des subjectivités politiques. Au regard de l’immense fécondité de sa production scientifique, et considérant que tout choix de sélection de textes aurait été nécessairement arbitraire et incomplet, nous n’indiquons pas une bibliographie de référence du colloque. En revanche, nous proposons de reparcourir schématiquement les principaux développements de sa trajectoire, afin de faciliter l’identification des thèmes de la discussion.

Militant, intellectual, and innovative interpreter of Marx and Marxism, Antonio Negri has been one of the most influential, yet controversial, figures of contemporary critical thought. His rich and transdisciplinary trajectory testifies to the extraordinary vitality of theoretical and political reflection that, for over sixty years, has been driven by a singular goal: “ the reconstruction of a class force that, as soon as possible, revolutionizes this insane world of exploitation and injustice in which we live”. From the workers’ inquiries carried out in the 1960s within the Workerist journals Quaderni Rossi and Classe Operaia to the quadrilogy inaugurated by Empire (2000), via his works devoted to legal formalism, Hegel, Keynes, Descartes, Lenin, Marx, Spinoza and Foucault, to the most recent developments in his theory of constituent power” and the “ common”, Negri has never separated the demand for a materialist analysis of the historical conjuncture from the revolutionary passion. His theoretical and political legacy of his work is enormous, highly complex, and ever-changing, much like the reality of the relations of exploitation and domination that he has continually sought to grasp and subvert.
Given his immense productivity, and considering that any selection of texts would necessarily have been arbitrary and incomplete, we are not providing a reference bibliography for the conference. Instead, we propose to outline the main developments in his career, in order to make it easier to identify the themes for discussion. If we limit ourselves to the dimensions of his research just mentioned – namely, the analysis of capitalism, the transformations of work and political subjectivities – these take us from the age of the Fordist-Keynesian regime of capital accumulation and its crisis to the so- called ‘ post-Fordist ’ mutations linked to neoliberalism, the rise of cognitive capitalism and the process of globalisation of capital.
