Descrizione dell’incidente:
Il gruppo ha lasciato Bihać (BE) l’8 marzo 2019 verso le 17:00. Dopo 4-5 ore hanno attraversato il confine croato. Il gruppo ha camminato per 4 giorni attraversando aree rurali, foreste, colline, montagne, vedendo anche una famiglia di orsi. Il gruppo aveva una tenda e dei sacchi a pelo.
Il quarto giorno il gruppo doveva attraversare una delle strade principali per poi riandare nella foresta (erano arrivati nella regione di Vrata, Croazia). Lì si erano appostati dei poliziotti ad aspettarli. L’intervistato pensa che li stessero tracciando con delle telecamere a visione notturna. Sembrava che i poliziotti stessero aspettando che il gruppo uscisse fuori dalla foresta. “Forse questa strada è sempre sotto sorveglianza”, ha detto l’intervistato. Il gruppo è stato fermato verso mezzanotte.
“i poliziotti urlavano STOP! STOP! Ed hanno sparato in aria due volte”
Il gruppo si è fermato, e gli è stato detto di fermarsi lì ed aspettare. Gli è stato chiesto quanti fossero in tutto. I poliziotti erano in 4 con due macchine (entrambe VW Polo). Tutti i poliziotti indossavano delle uniformi blu scure con la bandiera della Croazia cucita sulla spalla. Uno dei poliziotti aveva un binocolo a tracolla.
Dopo neanche 10 minuti è arrivato un grande furgone bianco. Prima di salire, il gruppo è stato perquisito, ma nulla gli è stato tolto. Sembrava una vettura usata per il trasporto di prigionieri. Ci stava una parete di separazione tra la parte posteriore della macchina e la cabina del conducente, interrotta solo da una finestrella. Questa era l’unica fonte di luce per loro. Si intravedevano due poliziotti davanti.
Quando questi hanno acceso il motore per partire, hanno anche acceso l’aria condizionata, facendo calare il freddo dentro la macchina. L’aria condizionata è rimasta accesa per tutta la durata del viaggio (all’incirca 3 ore). Il gruppo ha chiesto più volte di spegnerla, ma i poliziotti hanno fatto finta di nulla.
“Spegni il climatizzatore! Spegni il climatizzatore! L’abbiamo urlato più volte, ma loro non l’hanno spento.”
Intorno alle 4 di mattina il van della polizia croata è arrivato a circa 300 metri dalle prime case di Velika Kladuša (BE).
Dei poliziotti li stavano aspettando. La porta del van si è aperta e questi hanno iniziato ad urlare “Hajde! Hajde! (Forza, andiamo!) venite fuori uno a uno!”. L’intervistato è stato il primo ad uscire. Ad entrambi i lati della macchina vi erano due poliziotti, come a formare una scorta. Tre di questi hanno picchiato il ragazzo in maniera piuttosto violenta sulla gamba destra e sulla schiena, il quarto poliziotto lo ha inseguito e colpito con un pugno in faccia, rompendogli gli occhiali (vedi foto sotto).
I suoi amici sono venuti dopo di lui. Tutti loro hanno tentato di correre più forte possibile ma sono comunque stati picchiati. L’ultimo membro del gruppo in particolare è stato picchiato violentemente sulla schiena (vedi foto sotto).
“Andate in Bosnia! Hajde! Hajde!”
Gli hanno urlato dietro. Non contenti, gli urlavano dietro insulti in croato. Inoltre, gli ridevano dietro, come per tormentarli.
I poliziotti avevano una macchina più piccola con loro, una VW Polo. Indossavano uniformi blu scure e nessun passamontagna. Uno dei poliziotti era più grande, circa 45 anni con un po’ di pancia, mentre gli altri tre erano sui 30, alti e forti, così li ha descritti l’intervistato.
Dopo aver corso per diversi metri hanno incontrato un fiumiciattolo, così piccolo da poter essere attraversato saltando su delle pietre. Hanno poi raggiunto il campo Miral dell’OIM a Velika Kladuša (BE).
Alla fine dell’intervista, la persona che ha raccontato questa storia ha chiesto se la polizia ha il diritto di fare questo. È rimasto stupito quando ha realizzato che non dovrebbe succedere. Perché accade talmente spesso che è diventata una normalità, ha detto.

Polizia coinvolta nell’incidente: all’inizio 2 poliziotti: uniforme scusa con un badge sulla spalla su cui scritto “RH”, armati di pistole, uno dei poliziotti era un giovane uomo, l’altro ufficiale una donna. Successivamente, altri 4 poliziotti con camicia blu e pantaloni blu scuri, uno di loro con una stella foderata sulla spalla. In seguito, altri 4-5 poliziotti con passamontagna. Un van con la scritta al lato di “POLICIJA”.

Descrizione dell’incidente:
Un gruppo di tre ragazzi (due di loro aventi 17 anni) sono partiti da Velika Kladusa nella notte tra il 26 ed il 27 aprile 2019. dopo aver attraversato il confine croato, hanno continuato a camminare per quattro giorni. Durante il loro percorso, hanno dovuto attraversare a nuoto tre fiumi.
Nella notte tra il 30 aprile ed il 1 maggio sono arrivati al confine Sloveno. Quando stavano attraversando la foresta tra l’autostrada E65 ed i villaggi di Donje Prilisce e Srednje Prilisce (coordinate 45.468253, 15.378361), sono stati fermati da due ufficiali di polizia. La persona intervistata pensa che la polizia li abbia rintracciati grazie all’uso di visori notturni, siccome il gruppo al momento della cattura era nella foresta alle 3 di notte e fuori da ogni sentiero.
Uno dei poliziotti era una donna, l’altro era un giovane ragazzo. Indossavano uniforme scure, ricamate con una scritta “RH” sulle spalle. Avevano grandi torce frontali con loro. Quando hanno incontrato il gruppo, hanno tirato fuori le loro pistole, tolto la sicura e puntate verso di loro. L’intervistato si è sentito subito minacciato.
I poliziotti hanno urlato loro “Sedetevi!”, poi il gruppo è stato perquisito e gli sono stati presi i cellulari. Poi il giovane poliziotto li ha picchiati con un manganello e li ha ammanettati, poi ha distrutto i loro cellulari e chiamato rinforzi.
È arrivato un gruppo di quattro poliziotti. Uno di loro indossava una stella sulla spalla e dava ordini alla pattuglia. I tre ragazzi sono stati poi fatti salire su un van bianco con la scritta “POLICIJA” sul fianco. Durante il trasporto, il gruppo ha chiesto più volte per l’asilo, sottolineando la loro età. Hanno ricevuto un “Si” come risposta, ma senza avere delle reali attenzioni.
Il van è stato guidato per all’incirca tre ore e mezza fino al confine croato bosniaco vicino Basara (CR) alle coordinate 45.028003,15.7598213. Sono stati poi fatti scendere dal van. Fuori dal veicolo, quattro o cinque poliziotti con passamontagna li stavano aspettando, ed hanno iniziato a picchiarli. Dopo il pestaggio, i poliziotti hanno spinto i tre ragazzi nel fiume Korana, e detto loro di andarsene.
Il gruppo ha poi camminato per quattro ore prima di raggiungere Velika Kladusa.

Description of incident:
The group left from Bihać (BiH) on the 8th March 2019 around 05:00 pm. After four – five hours they crossed the border and entered Croatia. The group walked for four days. All the time through rural areas, forests, hills, mountains, they even saw a bear with her baby. The group was equipped with a tent and sleeping bags.
On the fourth day the group had to cross a main street to enter another forest. It was in the region before Vrata (Hr). There police officers awaited them. The respondent thought that they were maybe tracking them down with night vision binoculars. It seemed as if they were waiting for the group to come out of the forest on to the road. „Maybe this street is generally under surveillance“ the interviewee said. It was around midnight when they got caught.
“The policemen screamed Stop! Stop! and shot two times in the air.”
The group of asylum seekers stopped, they have been told to stay here and wait. The only thing they were asked is how many they are in total. They were four policemen with two cars (both cars white in the size of a VW Polo). The officers all wore dark blue uniforms with the emblem of Croatia on the upper arm, one of them had a binoculars hanging around his neck.
After not more than ten minutes a big white van arrived. Before they had to get in the van, they were frisked but nothing was taken away from them. It was a car maybe also used for prisoner transport. There was a separation between the drivers space and the back of the car with a little window. That was the only window for them. There was the driver and one other police officer in the front of the car.
When they started the motor to drive off, they also switched on the air condition on a very cold level. The air condition stayed on for the whole trip that took approximately three hours. The group tried it many times to knock on the window asking for turning off the air condition, but they did not react.
“Stop clima [air condition] ! Stop clima! We shouted many, many times but they did not switch it off.”
Around 04:00 am the van Croatian police van arrived approximately 300 meters away from the first houses of the city of Velika Kladuša (BiH).
Some other policemen awaited them. The door got opened and they shouted „Hajde, Hajde, one-by-one come out!“. The respondent was the first to get off the van. Left and right there were two policemen standing, like an escort. Three of them punched the interviewee quite hard on the left thigh and the back with the batons, the fourth policeman run after him and punched him with the fist in his face, so one glass of his glasses broke (see picture below).
His friends got off after him. All of them tried to run as fast as they could but got beaten. The last member of the group got hardly punched on the back (see picture below)
“Go Bosnia! Hajde! Hajde!“
They shouted after them. Also they were insulting them, using ugly words in Croatian the respondent reports. Also they were laughing extra loud at them, they tried to torment them.
The policemen had a small with car with them VW Polo size. They were wearing the dark blue uniform and no ski masks. One was a bit older, maybe around 45 years old and had a belly, the others were around 30 years old, tall and strong, the reporting person describes them.
After some meters of running the group reached a very small river, it was so small that they could jump on stones to cross it. Then they walked to IOM Camp Miral outside Velika Kladuša.
In the end the interviewee asks the person conducting the interview if the police has the right to beat him up. He seems astonished that this should not be happening. Because it is happening so often it became normal, he said.

Description of incident:
The group of three men (two of them 17-year old minors) set out from Velika Kladusa in the night between the 26th and the 27th of April 2019. After crossing the border to Croatia, they walked for four days. During that time, they crossed three rivers by swimming.
In the night between 30th April and 1st May, they were approaching the border with Slovenia. When they were in the forest between the highway E65 and the villages of Donje Prilisce and Srednje Prilisce (coordinates 45.468253, 15.378361), they were apprehended by two police officers. The respondent suggested that the police may have used night vision devices, because at the moment of their encounter (about 3 A.M.) the group was in the middle of the forest, not even on a path.
One of the police officers was a woman, the other one was a man whom the respondent described as very young. They wore dark uniforms with a badge on their shoulder. There were the letters RH on the badge. They had big headlights with them. When they approached the group, they pulled their pistols, released the safety catches and pointed at the three men. The respondent said he felt intimidated.
The policemen shouted at them “Sit Down!“, then the group was searched and their cellphones were taken. The male officer beat them with a baton and handcuffed them, destroyed the cellphones and then they called reinforcements.
A group of four policemen arrived. One of them was wearing a star on his shoulder and giving orders to the patrol. The group was taken into a white van with the letters POLICIJA written on its side. During the subsequent transport, the three group members asked multiple times for asylum and declared their age, receiving “Yes” as an answer but with no factual consequences.
The van was driving for approximately 3,5 hours until it reached the border between Croatia and Bosnia near Basara (HR) at the coordinates 45.028003,15.7598213. The three men were told to get out of the van. Outside, four or five policemen with their faces covered by ski masks waited for them and started to beat them. After the beating, they pushed the group into the border river (Korana river) and told them to leave.
The three men then walked to Velika Kladusa which they reached after about four hours of walking.
